I just checked the weight on my E-450 based van with a 14,500 GVWR. The front axle is only 3,300 pounds while the back one is 6,600. I am just wondering if there is to little weight on the front axle?
There where 6 passengers and one 450 pound wheelchair.
I guess I will have to be really careful if I ever need to drive it in the snow, as there is so little weight on the front axle, compared to the overall GVW?
Thanks in advance. . .
Fred.
You're fine. Ford says you should have 32% minimum on the front axle, and you are barely there. Of course... you could solve the lightweight front end issue by Installing a Buckstop bumper :)
