Models Which Can Be Dinghy Towed

Does anyone have a list of auto, 4WD vehicles 2017/8/9 which are flat-towable.

We currently tow a low mileage 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara, but would like to upgrade. A Jeep Liberty is about the size we would like, but of course they are no longer made.

  • We sold our Corolla last year and because it was time, we traded my RAV4 in and bought a 2014 CRV. It is a perfect size for me to drive. We decided to make the jump because 2014 was the last year that can be flat towed and we saw one at a local dealer with low mileage and a decent price.

DH never liked the Corolla so we were towing the RAV on a dolly and I really hated that! So glad we made the change.

Thanks all. Helpful comments. It would seem from my searches today that Suzuki Autos have folded their tent in Western Canada and, indeed, possibly in North America. Parts will no doubt become hard to get. Will search for another brand when the one we have gives up following us about. Thanks again.

Zuki announced it was leaving the US/NA back in 2012, good call to look elsewhere.

  • How about a newer Suzuki Grand Vitara? Redesigned in (I think) 2006. We love ours. Used to have the old one like yours. Newer one needs to be 4WD with transfer case dial on dash to be towable. Suzuki doesn't sell in U.S. anymore, don't know about Canada.

No matter what you see online about being towable (even what I wrote :) or what a salesperson says, always check the car's manual under "recreational towing" to be sure.

Motorhome Magazine has annual editions that are available online for free, and they go back quite a few years.
They publish according to manufacturer recommendations, meaning no anecdotal listings. Has to mfr OK'd.
    They're pretty accurate.
