Most common campground complaints?

Running a campground for this season, we're lucky (or maybe hard working enough?) that we don't hear about too many complaints.

So we were thinking, what things have you found to complain about at a campground? What's the most common thing you dislike that a campground manager would be able to do something about?

Here's our experience with complaints so far...

Thanks for the feedback everyone! If I take anything away from this at all, it's that people don't like barking dogs, and that our trees need to be trimmed a bit!

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Kids running through and playing in my campsite. Those kids parents who could care less about others. Loud dogs, dogs outside not supervised, dogs not on the appropriate leash, people who don't pick up after there dogs. Loud drunks. Campgrounds that allow seasonal sites and let them setup bars and Tiki huts, and the bar hopping goes till early morning hours along with the noise and music. Fire pits too close to the neighboring sites. People who try to put things on your site or get way to close.

Come to think of it .... why do I bother going at all? :B

Maybe I'm just strange. I've been RVing since 1998 and I don't have any complaints. I stay in KOAs most of the time, because I like FHU pull thru sites. I'm gone most of every day seeing the sights, and I sleep like a log.
Most KOAs have a playground for kids, a dog walking area and a pool. I don't use any of those things, but I'm glad that the other campers do. The sites are usually roomy enough for me, and level enough that my HWH levelers can finish the job. Since the operators are usually the owners, they seem to take better care of the place, and, since they're local they have a lot of local information to share.
If I was as miserable as some folks on this forum, I'd quit. You can't please some folks, even it you hit 'em with a brand new hammer.
Wait. I think I've figured it out. I'm not married. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can't think of a time when we actually went to management and complained about anything.
not that there haven't been some things to gripe about...we just keep our gripes between us.
and I guess we haven't had any problems bad enough to holler about. just lucky I guess.

Noisy dogs, unsupervised kids, bad roads, broken sever connections, but the complaint I have the most is untrimmed trees! On my last trip I was in three campgrounds where I had to deal with them. One I just scrapped my way through, another I went and found another site, and the last I had to get the maintenance man to trim the branches so I could open my slides.
For you campground owners/managers... if you are going to have trees each site and access roads need to have a clear path at least 14' high and 12' wide.

How about just enforcing the rules that are already in place. I do not usually complain, I just do not go back

Something I always appreciated from the campground Host was allowing us to go look at the Site before we put the 5'vr in and giving us the option to another Site if the 1 reserved was not suitable for us. A variety of reasons would be loud children or barking dogs, next to the swimming pool, on the main road into the campground, next to the campground generator, next to the trash bins, etc. Whenever we go to a campground I try to talk to the management, on the phone, to set up a reserved site that meets our needs. Thankfully, we avoid staying in private RV parks and resorts (wishful thinking) unless there is no other viable choice for many of the reasons stated above. It's usually not something management can do much about, private RV parks are designed and run to make a profit and thus will rarely satisfy everyone each and every time. I believe most people don't waste their time with complaints and just leave early or never plan to return unless they had significant issues or paid an excessive nightly fee. That being said, we do have a few favorite private RV parks we frequent in areas we enjoy visiting often, but it's rarely due to amenities provided or property appeal, it's rather more about the sense of overall good karma that some parks and their (down to earth) owners seem to exude each time you arrive.

We had an instance at a state park with camper neighbors who were getting quite drunk and belligerent, nasty language, and it was escalating! This was probably around 9:30 p.m. So for the first time ever, I walked over to the campground host to let them know what was happening. I really had no idea what to expect, but it wasn't long before the local sheriff's deputies were there to handle the situation, which in hind sight, was the only solution. Problem solved!! So far, no other complaints. (I'm usually pretty easy going!) Joyce

One thing seems so obvious to me that it seems like owner apathy or even negligence when I find it.

Check the polarity and circuits on all outlets on all pedestals in your campground. Seriously...this is so simple to do but could really mess up somebody's rig if you don't.

Happened to me last week...really nice campground but the 30A had the neutral and hot reversed. The 50A was fine so I just used a pigtail and reported it to the office.

That's something the management can fix, and the tester only costs about $10.

Too crowded

I can leave the trailer in the storage lot if I want to be feet from the next rig. So close that you not only can hear the people in the next site talking but a few sites down. That and dogs running loose.
