Here is the history you’ve been asking for. In Feb we attended the Tiffin Rally in Sarasota, and after talking to Bob Tiffin and Danny Inman we convinced ourselves to update from our 04 Allegro Bay. A quick search at Lazydays in Tampa located a slightly used 13 Allegro with 1700 miles from original owners in Alabama that was being traded at the March FMCA Rally in Perry Ga. We cash and trade purchased the unit in March at Tampa, with the understanding the outstanding loan was paid and the title would follow in 2 weeks.
After not receiving anything from Lazydays I inquired on 5/2 as to what the status was and they said they had sent it UPS 2nd day air on 4/24. Tracking the UPS system indicated it was never picked up at Lazydays. After a week of arguing with the LD Title Dept. they agreed to obtain a duplicate title from Ala.
Finally after 5 more weeks I received replacement certificate that I took to the SC DMV who immediately rejected its validity. After two visits SCDMV accepted the replacement title into their system, which places it in a national data base where it would not clear because it was challenged due to a discrepancy. SC said I needed to get Lazydays to straighten it out, the LD Title Dept said it was my problem and I needed to get SC to straighten it out. After 15 weeks I still have been able to get a clean title, even though I have contacted 2 of the top three officers at Lazydays.
and with this background your original post was:
How long should it take to get a title for motorhome purchased from an out of state dealer?
