i am doing some research before i decide to make the trip and have some questions. I might have an opportunity to work out of state and want to be ready if everything works out this way. I would be staying for 6-12 months with the flight home to see the wife and kiddo every month. i have a 36' fifth wheel toyhauler, just me no animals. i usually dry camp and only been to a park once a few years ago. how do you find rv parks in the area a want to be in? google search rv parks in a certain town? any other publications to look at?what kind of questions should i ask when i call parks? size of space, electric included, cellular service, cable, internet avalible?????what should i do or check on my trailer to be ready for fulltime hook ups?

Rvparkreviews is a good place to start. Also the state you are going to most likely has a campground association that puts out a book with all the campgrounds in the state. Once you determine the time frame and whether it is a monthly rate or seasonal you will need you can pick a place. Read the reviews about wifi as just because they say they have it, does not mean it works well.

I use RV Park Reviews also. Great resource. You can use Google maps by centering on a town and typing "RV parks" or "campgrounds" in the search box.Ask the RV park if they allow a multi-month stay. Some don't. After you tell them the size of your RV, they should know which sites your RV will fit in, but ask if there will also be room to park your truck at the site. Make sure your sewer hose has the end-piece that makes a secure and sealed connection to the hole in the ground. You cannot just leave your sewer hose dangling in the hole for 6 months. So get something like this if you don't already have it:Sewer hose adapterWhen you know the town you are going to be staying in, just ask in this forum (in the RV Parks section) for suggestions of good parks.

A park's website should tell you what you need to know.

What State are you looking at? Winter temps may be a factor...Alternate heat source. I use RV Park Review plus will google the park and use google earth to check it out...Alot of parks look good on the website but in reality they have become trailer parks and not RV parks...

If you have a smart phone, there's an App called RV Parky. I have found it to be quite vauable.

Sounds like u got a great time comeing up, we just Tryed till we found some parks we liked . Only way to really see what u like . Now it's all happy-camping

Here is what I found in a quick search. It looks like there is quite a few. Too bad you don't know of somebody local that can help you out in picking one. Remember, if the first one you stay at you don't like you can move to a different one. Pick out a few that look like what you are looking for so that you have options when you get there.

Major urban areas like that usually have only a few options, and not very good ones at that.

The parks are only listed because someone has written a review on it. RVparky, AllStays, Good Sams and Woodalls are also some good places to look.

I have found that parks will put the long term guests in a special place usually away from day to day guests. What I don't like about long term trailer parks is the way they usually turn out ie decks in front of trailer, large propane tanks junk all over the place. Not all parks are like that of course but I have seen plenty....

I would rather pay the higher fee and stay out of the long term parks...
