Need WDH help

Question

2014 F1501996 24 foot Mallard TTBought the trailer last fall and the seller delivered it, so I've never towed it.  Trying to get the WDH set up.  Trailer and truck on level ground, trailer level.  I have 2 1/2 inches from the top of the trailer hitch to th top of the ball.  The Hitch is adjusted to its lowest position.  Do I need a different shank?  I believe it's a Reese but can you still get a different shank for a '96 hitch?

A picture would help lots...Do you mean you can't lower the trailer tongue enough to get on the ball without being nose-down?

No I understand that the measurement from the hitch to the top of the ball should be one inch for the initial setup.  I'm I wrong?

Additionally Etrailer has a lot of good info and some videos.In short, yes it sounds like you need a shank with a longer drop.

Sounds like you do need a shank with more drop. They're pretty standard, even between brands. You could try local hitch shops, ebay, etrailer, maybe even craigslist.
