We moved into this house last year, the neighbor behind us is a widow and she leaves her yard spotlights on every night to keep the backyard lit. Turns them on when she goes to bed, turns them off around breakfast. Every night like clockwork. They shine right into our back upstairs bedrooms, so we just close the blinds. Not worth making a stink over.
Last month we left our backyard spotlights on one night by mistake, forgot to turn them off after the dog came in. Next morning there is note on the front door from the neighbor politely reminding us that we need to be sure our backyard lights are off before we go to bed because they shine in her bedroom window....LOL! We never responded, some things just aren't worth getting aggravated over....
Not an issue on the RV, we have the day/night pleated shades and they block out everything.
My thought would be that if it's noteworthy enough for it to be remembered and commented on it is worth making an effort to correct. Maybe not a really serious effort, but perhaps a word about the lights being on and shining in your window. Most spotlights/yardlights can be aimed, or shaded so they don't shine in your window. I would certainly bring it up, but that's me.
