True story on my last RV,I bought a extended warranty. My A/C went out and I took it a repair shop,he called the warranty company, while I was there and they said it was covered,he e mailed the repair order.They sent back the approval. When it was done the shop e mailed the final bill,they denied the claim.
We asked why,when it had been approved,he had the e mail approving it.

They quoted a clause in the contract and sent it to us. Buried in the fine print,it said the work had to be completed and billed within 5 days of the repair order being received and approved.

It took 5 days to get the parts and another to install it,the bill was sent 7 days after the approval. CLAIM DENIED.

Save your money.

Put the cost of a warranty in the bank or a CD and build on it every year. Insure yourself, because in the end that is what is going to happen. If you are lucky and I was for over 20 years. I still had all my money in the bank and never had to pay a single warranty premium. Sure in my first year of RV'g I bought one and took a beating on it right off the mark. It is often hard to find repair places that will accept warranty companies for repair. They want you to pay them and then you deal with your warranty company for you money back. Sure warranty companies will tell the repair shop they have a CC number and guarantee payment, but it does not work out that way. There is always a hitch that bungles the deal. Take care of yourself.You will be glad you did.

Read the actual contract, not the sales brochure.

If you are going to finance the cost of the extended warranty, then consider the total cost, not just the sales price.

Typically, the odds are not in your favor for the extended warranty to return more than you pay for it. Think about it, they are a for profit organization. They collect money for lots of people and pay out to few people.

Many after market extended warranties have huge sales commissions, so expect a lot of pressure to buy it. Many of them have many hoops to jump through before they will pay. That is why you must read the actual contract to understand what your obligations are.

Many of them contain confusing language such as, "If an uncovered part fails and causes a covered part to fail, the covered part is not covered."

"is it filled with loopholes?" - Of course. That's how they make money. Claims paid = profit down, claims denied = profits up.
"do many repair/dealers not want to perform work on the plan?" - Call around to any repair facilities you may want to use in the future. Many if not most will not accept many of these service plans due to difficulties with getting approvals or payments.

Most of these lay on top of multiple component warranties and provide little to no extra value the first couple years. By then defects have been found and repaired. So then years 3 to 6 are fairly trouble free and the extra warranty expires ;)

I would focus on the big stuff such as the engine and driveline warranty. What does the factory warranty cover here?

Wait. Your new motorhome comes with a 1-2 year warranty, most likely a bumper to bumper. In addition all the appliances and climate systems have their own warranty which range from 1-3 years. So wait and see what gives you trouble and then and only then look at an extended warranty. Read the fine print as some of the components require annual service to maintain the warranty.
Additionally start looking for who is going to do chassis work. It's harder that you might think.
