New truck and hitch

I bought a new F250 and moved my EZ lift WDH hitch over. The top of my ball sits at 25 3/16. The top of my TT tongue is 25 3/16.

When I hook up the trailer sits level. With my WDH installed with bars hooked up the front of truck rose 1.1/8 inch. Rear dropped 1.3/4 inches. I am thinking I need to raise the hitch height to next hole up.

I weighted truck/TT as follows

TT/Truck with WDH installed 5 of seven links below bar 2 loose

Steer axle 4460
Rear axle 4540
TT axle 4260 Gross weight 13220

Just truck and TT no WDH

Steer axle 4300
Rear axle 4760
TT axle 4160 Gross weight 13260

This moved on 20# off trailer and just 160# to steer axle?

Any suggestions appreciated

Down the road, Thanks that is a great reply. My TT tongue is the same height as my ball. When I drop the trailer on the hitch truck squats in rear without WDH. WDH and bars hooked up trailer is leveled but front end rises @ 1 1/2 inches.

Dont sonud right.. You need to restore the front axle to original... Something is amiss...

  • Thanks men. Much appreciated I am just aa green horn. I never thought about the steer axle weight before and trying to restore it with the hitch adjustment. Makes sense to me.

I assume getting the front end height back to original height would be about the same but weight calculations seems better. So with info. above any idea how to drop my front end back down? Raise ball height or what?

Your weights dont mean much unless you weigh the truck alone. You need to weigh the truck full of fuel , people and gear..

The front axle weight as is most important.

Your object with the WD hitch is to restore front axle to original truck only weight... Or as close as you can without going over...
  • The ball height is for leveling the trailer...
The bar tension and (number of chair links under tension)is used for leveling the truck.

    REMEMBER - -

Level the TOW vehicle with w/d bar adjustment...

Level the TT with the hitch height adjustment...

Level the w/d bars with the angle adjustment on the hitch head.
