RV roof top A/C units are noisy and unfortunately they seem to be placed near where you spend most of your time in an RV.
I have found that once the A/C cools down the interior on high fan we can switch to low fan to maintain the cold temperature inside. The noise level near the A/C unit drops to an almost comfortable level with the fan on low.
When we first installed a replacement unit there was a loud buzz. I went up on the roof and removed the shroud. There were two copper tubes that were close enough together to cause the buzz from the vibration of the fan/compressor running. I moved them apart very carefully and place a small block of dense foam. No more buzz.
