North Carolina natives

Just wondering how many folks out there are from north Carolina?

Yes I'm a native. Raised in Lincolnton, Moved to Maiden when I married true, thru, and thru, Southern Bell. There are Southern Girls, and then there are Southern Bells. You ain't lived till you been Belled.

And in truth. I don't want to live any where else. I been other places. NC keeps pulling me back. As Will Stockdale's Pappy said. You don't want to go to Atlanta. I been to Atlanta. So, You don't want to go North. I been North.

I did. And in the Museum on the main deck. You can see every school that gave. The schoo I attended at the time. No longer exists.

,,,Well, I'm going to jump in and say "Howdy", though not a NC "native"...I've lived and worked in the Asheville area since 93', my daughter and son live here and I have two granddaughters "born" and so far "raised" here in the North Carolina Mountains, ( I'm originally from the mountains of WVa.) :B

How do you define native? In Eufala, AL, they insist a native has a direct family line always living in Alabama, since a grand parent was born in Alabama.

I have two grand daughters that were born in NC. One moved after 1 year. The other lived there for 3 years. Are they natives of NC?

Lived in NC for past 64 years, probably 15 miles from Eycom, greatest place to live they are. Mountains, Blue ridge Parkway about three hours West, Atlantic Ocean, Emerald Isle about four hours East Charleston SC about three and a half hours South, I do not know much about North Dad told me sometimes folks that go that way never return, just saying.
Eycom, I usually go through Denton on Saturday mornings (weather permitting) on the way to Baden Lake to catch a few bream. I stop at Bojangles for a biscuit on the way down, your welcome along.

Born and bred for me in Raleigh. Still live here after 62 yrs. Husband from SC. Camp a lot in NC. Beautiful mtns. and coastal areas and a lot in between. Love corp parks, city parks and a bunch of private campgrounds.

Living in Denton, you probably see more native N. Carolinians than someone from Charlotte or Raleigh. Heck, Carey has been known as "Little New Jersey" for many years. N.C. was one of the fastest growing states back in the 80s & 90s and I enjoyed the advantages of that growth while living in S.C. just south of Charlotte. The growth rate slowed as the economy, based on tobacco/textiles/furniture, began to change at the turn of the century.

Over the years, I've really enjoyed the camping opportunities available in the Carolinas. An Ocean Lakes is fun once in a blue moon, but my interest lies in the Fed/C.O.E./State/City & County parks with their natural ambiance and larger sites. One of my favorites for a get-a-way is Arrowhead in the Uwharrie just south of you.

Enjoy while you can. N.C. is transitioning into a more diverse economy. Along with better jobs, it's mostly sub-tropical climate will create many more "Carey(s)". In 25 to 30 years, you'll be in my shoes. But, instead of looking for "old Florida", you'll be looking for "old North Carolina".

Do you mean current residents, or from? I was born there, but left about 50 years ago.
