Many of todays rigs with 3.42 gears, due to the 6+sp trannies, have an overall low lower than those of us with 4.10 and 4 sp auto trannies......
Just because one is above manufacture warranty/weight ratings, does not mean one is unsafe! I've seen rigs below factory ratings, that WHERE UNSAFE! As the trailer was swaying side to side, or one knew there were no brakes on trailer, and the total was way over the braking ability of the TV in and of itself. Legal weight wise, yes...safe no! Altho in some cases, it could have been ticketed for non working brakes if it could not stop, or hold the trailer during a field test by an LEO!
THings like this, best to keep ones mind open! As I recall a day and time in an OM for my post 1990 GM C/K pickups, I could increase my tow rating by 50% IF I staying under 25 mph! Many loop holes here and there!
