My brother used to have a black outside dog and a black outside cat. They always slept in the same dog house. In the morning you would look outside to see the dog setting in the door of the dog house and the cat setting right between his legs. It was a funny sight.
They would even eat out of the same dish. But, the dog ate first. If the cat got to close; as he often did by slinking his way up there; the dog would reach out with one of his big paws and pin the cat to the ground until he was done eating. He wouldn't hurt the cat though and it seemed he always left a little food in the dish for the cat to eat after he was through.
