Onan Generator

During our recent cross country trip we encountered generator problems. Before reaching the Seattle area it started to give us trouble but I decided to wait until we were at a location for a few days before getting it repaired. I called Pro-Tow and Motorplex of Maple Valley WA and Auburn WA at 253-245-5400. The dispatcher assured me they could affect the repair. When the repairman arrived, he only had a bag of tools and no parts. He didn't know how to start my generator and guessed that was dirty and he said that he hadn't had any luck with cleaning them. He had no idea where to get parts. To keep from having local legal problems I agreed to his charge. I later called the dispatcher and expressed my dissatisfaction and she admitted that they did not normally perform generator repairs then why even accept the job? At this time I suspected a scam. I would suggest that anyone needing repairs in the Seattle area not contact this company. SIDE NOTE: We had it cleaned in Austin TX and it works fine now.

Most people drive their rig to the outfit that is going to work on the generator. When I am on the road I will take the rig into a truck repair outfit since all those refrigerated trucks on the road use generators to power their refrigeration units. Often as not the generator is up and running within an hour.
