over towing length

I just got a 37' foot camper and decided I was going to measure it and figures over the indiana legal limit. I have a crew cab long bed.
I am not finding anything showing that since I have class A cdl's does it make it legal. I am not worried about being almost 62 feet just would like to know.

Fed is 65 feet. As long as you are on an interstate, you are fine. Once you get off them and onto state highways it gets a little iffy if the state has shorter limits - but you are usually ok. Once you leave "truck routes" you are in danger of getting the measuring tape.

Well I am not that worried about being stopped I don't ever tow in the city and always on country state routes to all campgrounds.

Probably the ONLY way you'd have a problem is if stopped for something ELSE and then check your length (just because it's long). Not likely they'll be pulling over vehicles JUST because they look long. Not much risk involved but there COULD be significant consequences if that would happen (impounding your trailer) for example.

You are not a commercial vehicle so no one cares. I am 72 ft with my toad. Again, no one cares. I also have a CDL.

As long as you travel as a privately owned and operated RV as opposed to a for hire transporter, you will be fine. The DOT authorities have no interest in governing the leisure RV traveler.

A CDL is not going to help... might even hurt as harder to plead ignorance of the law. I'm sometimes a lot more than 2' over and have never been stopped much less measured. I am surprised how many states there are with 60' or less. Once you get to an Interstate Highway you are legal.
While we RVers are special, we are not exempt from the various state laws (when on state highways) even though we are not a commercial vehicle. Are we ever stopped and measured... rarely and reciprocity does not apply to length.
