Pennsylvania Winter Travel Notice

There was a topic of discussion here a few days ago about traveling in PA during/after last weeks storm. With the strong possibility of another storm moving in our Governor has issued the following:

"Earlier today, I announced a State of Emergency ahead of #WinterStormQuinn. Travel is not recommended and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. If you will be on the road, make sure that your gas tank is full and your emergency kit is in your car — this should include non-perishable food, water, blanket, small shovel, and warm clothes. Be sure to account for any special needs, like baby food, pet supplies, or medications.

Roadways will not be free of snow while precipitation is falling. With freezing temperatures, roads that look wet may be icy, and extra caution is needed when approaching bridges and highway ramps where ice can form without warning. Give six car lengths of space when following a plow or salt truck, and adhere to reduced speed limits.

Check Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)’s 511pa.com before you’re on the road to make sure your route is safe — you can find information on traffic delays, plowing, speed limit updates, and weather forecasts all in one place. Stay safe, PA."

Certain commercial truck plus VEHICLES TOWING CAMPING TRAILERS will be banned from major routes in Eastern PA.
