Ok if we go from ny to Maine and want to spend the night free is there an app or web site that will list places based on your route ??

Don't forget Harvest Hosts.

Farms and wineries that allow limited overnight parking. Although technically free, I usually spend more at a winery than I pay for a camp site ๐Ÿ™‚
