Little off topic here, but we quit hooking up directly to "city water" and fill the fresh water tank and use the on-board pump. Reason? We've been to a few KOA's in the last year and their water pressure is pretty high. Fortunate they warned us before settling in camp. I don't trust my 10 (plus) year old regulator any more, and after thinking about it, I really don't want to take chances blowing out my water lines or joints in my camper. So, decided to simply fill the tank and run the pump, which is designed with the appropriate pressure. No worries, no problems. To each his own.
For the OP, the valve inside the fill connection can probably be fixed easy as stated above with a screw driver.
