PT Cruiser and BrakeBuddy ??

I put my breakaway wire on the passenger side of the firewall because it was so much easier than the driver's side. There was plenty of length to reach the Brake Buddy. Also the actual breakaway switch is on the passenger side because the connector from the RV wiring is on the driver's side.

when I used a brake buddy I did NOT drill any holes in the firewall, etc. I just ran the wire back under the hood, outside between hood and door a very short distance, and then into the vehicle.

Thanks, Gonzo42. The cable I'm talking about is the one that runs from the BreakAway gizmo that goes on the front of the PT Cruiser and plugs into the BrakeBuddy itself. This requires a hole in the firewall and as the instructions say preferably on the driver's side. It's quiet crowded under the hood, so I'm seeking advise on where to drill the hole. I'm sure I can muddle through it, but it would be easier to hear from someone who's been there as I really don't want to hit something in the engine compartment with a drill bit.

You don't have to drill into the firewall for the steel cable, but you need a hole for the electrical cable. If you look around you should be able to find an existing hole for the electrical wiring of your toad. It will have a grommet the wires feed through.

Push your electrical wire through the grommet along the existing wires. Its not entirely easy and takes some time and wiggling the wire. You might find it easier to use a coathanger wire from the passenger compartment into the engine bay, then tape your wire to the coathange and pull it back. If you have someone to help it will be considerably easier, but is still might take you several tries if the tape doesn't hold well.
