Pull over!

While towing through a busy town yesterday a gal in the car next to me waved at me and pointed to the rear of my 5er. Ok, so I better pull over and see what's up.

After a few scary minutes I got to a parking lot. I was expecting to see a wheel missing or my air conditioner gone, but I saw nothing wrong. Tires all fine, nothing hanging from the chassis, ladder present, roof fine, nothing missing from the truck. I have no idea what this was about. I guess I should have rolled down the window to hear her, but on a busy narrow bridge that's not something I want to do.

I can't imagine somebody doing this as a prank, but it sure appears that way. Anybody have this happen to you?

I once pulled into a parking lot with our coach and toad, and a man came along side and asked if knew that the directional lights on the car were blinking at the same time as the coach directional lights. I told him, "Yes, that's the way they're supposed to work.", and he just said "Oh..." and drove off. Odd...

Ralph and Bobbo, I’m with ya, as long as you also recognize that others may have a need to be in more of a hurry and you get the fook out of the way when you can so faster drivers can pass. (And then do not get offended when someone passes you, like seems to be the game aroundhere.)

The whole point is to get him to pass, which means I have already gotten the fook out of the way.

I flagged down a couple one time. I was walking out of work and get in my carand look over to see a trailer fly by at highway speeds with the curb side slide tipped out on the top all **** eyed. I stompped the gas pedal down and caught them a 1/2 mile up the road. I pointed back at the trailer and as soon as the driver was checking his mirrors he spotted it and pulled over right away. I stopped and helpped him push it back in. I had never seen one tip out on the top like that. They thanked me and we parted ways.

I brake check em (with just the brake lights usually, but when that doesnt have the proper effect sometimes actually with the brake, and for maximum fun with the trailer brake only) most of the time, go ahead and rear end me, bring it on. Sometimes I just progressively lower my speed, which seems to irk them even more, and usually gets them closer that when the brake check comes it's to maximum effect. Yep I am the brake checking ******** and proud of it.

You have a friend in me! I, also, flash my brake lights at them. If that doesn't do any good, I start reducing my speed until either I have a safe speed for their following distance, or they decide to pass me.

Why do tailgaters follow so close that it would be a problem?

Being a savvy RVer he opted to drive a few miles further to the campground he planned to stay overnight and inspect the towed in a safer place. The “Good Samaritan “ said he is a certified mechanic and would replace all the shocks. Turned out the lady at the park office knew about the scam and warned the RVer. The next day he took his towed to a mechanic the RV park owner recommended and found there was nothing wrong with the towed.

Ok you guys are right, water drains quickly, but it's not enough water to spray around....10-4 got it. Over n out.

Apparently you've never driven behind a semi that is just "leaking a little". Or an RV dumping water.
Whatever.
BTW, not saying I don't doo it too, I just don't do it where there's any traffic. But mostly jsit open the drain at home.

Also not very cool of you to do that, unless it was raining out. Some people would prefer their car not be spritzed with water on a sunny day. And others will hope it's not your black tank leaking....

I see no problem draining water while driving and I do it myself. You would have to be three feet off my bumper to see any water on your vehicle. If your following that close you deserve to get a little wet.

It only takes a few miles after pulling the plug to drain it. And then going down the hwy the amount of water dripping out would not be significant enough to spray the cars behind you.

Seems to me like the brake lights ought to be lit when the vehicle is slowing significantly. This is probably a case of outdated vehicle code. Why would you want to slow in front of others without warning them?

Why do tailgaters follow so close that it would be a problem? If a filament burns out of the brake/turn signal light, should you be slammed in the rear?

You’re joking now, right? You think brake lights are only for tailgaters? There’s also 3 lights so no problem if one is burned out.

Brake lights exist for a very good reason and in my opinion aggressive ehaxust brakes should light them. Relying on the depth perception of the driver following you to determine your tailgate is rapidly approaching his grill is asking for it.

Not exactly a joke and most trailers have two lights, not three. Do you understand that if one bulb is burned out, and the driver pumps the brakes, it can be mistaken for a turn signal. Exhaust brakes are not all that aggressive, more like someone downshifting. Should we have the brake lights come on in every gear but the highest?
