Refrigerator Smells. Help!

In the past I used a product called Noc Out that I purchased off the internet and it took a spoiled fish smell out of my car.

This has been discussed a few times on the forum. Here is one of the Posts.
Or do a google search for RV Refrigerator Odors. You will probably get several opinions of what works.

get a bag of PLAIN charcoal... spread it out in the freeze and fridg... it's pretty good at absorbing smells. Change it every week... been there, not nice.. tried charcoal as last resort. worked great. good luck...

Just remembered... I also sprinkle ground coffee over the charcoal.

A few years ago I did a WiFi installation for group that refurbishes used refrigerators for low income families. All of the fridges in the back waiting to be cleaned up and refurbed had about a dozen charcoal briquettes scattered around on the shelves, and virtually no bad smells.

Coffee grounds work well also, my mom use to spread in the castiron skillet after cooking fish so the hamburger, or roast would not taset like fish!!!

Soak the heck out of it in vinegar first. Cleaning vinegar with higher acidity is best. Then the charcoal/coffee treatment.
Vinegar is a natural, anti-bacterial and won't hurt anything. Trick is to really soak it, and reapply a couple of times. Don't wipe it off --- let it sit and dry itself.

Actually I would try chlorine bleach full strength first.....with rubber gloves, old clothes and glasses.

Wash it out good, leave it a little damp and then close it for 24 hours and then rinse good.

That should replace your moldy food smell with a chlorine smell.....which should dissipate over time.

For less drastic things I have been using a cleaner with bleach in it. It works good for lots of stuff.....including dumping a bit into the tanks for cleaning.

DO NOT MIX CHLORINE BLEACH WITH VINEGAR OR ANYTHING ELSE. That can result in releasing deadly chlorine gas.

Put this in a dish and leave it for a week or two. It will take out the bad smells. It worked on ours in a week.

Did you leave it open for a week or so to air out. If you keep it closed, and don't let it air out. No matter what you put in it. It will always smell.
