Refrigerator troubleshoot order?

The refrigerator in my 95 Catalina will operate fine on AC but when I switch it to LP I can hear the igniter clicking but eventually gives me the red X.

What I need to know is what order do I need to check/clean what needs to be checked/cleaned to get it back going? We are pulling down to the beach after Thanksgiving and I would like to get it back up before then.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If the gas has been off for a bit, it will take resetting many times before the air gets out of the line. Light the stove, or any other high demand lip appliance close to the refrigerator to help bleed the lines.

Other than that, what Bud said.

How does air get in the line?
  • I guess the little gremlins went home. It fired right up today, LOL!
  • Do Not clean the orifice with anything but denatured alcohol and a soft cloth. You stick anything in that tiny hole and it's kaput.
  • Try cleaning off the electrode and run a wire or pipe cleaner through the tube.
  • Again as said the burner is a small flame and the rust particals from the chimney fall right onto the burner which needs to be vacuumed or blown out regularly to clean and operate properly. This seems to be common with older units.
  • I did run the furnace while I was trying to get the fridge to light. I’ll check for the flame and the other mentioned things. Thanks for the replies guys! I’ll report my findings!

  • Propane turned on?
See if the burner comes on. It is a small flame should be blue. If it does come on, it is possible that the flame sensor is dirty or out of alignment.
Make sure there is no debris on burner around the flame.
Check to see if you smell Propane when it is trying to light.
    Clean burner area.
check the gas valve coils to make sure they have continuity
