We just ordered a latex topper from SleepOnLatex.com. Gonna see how this works. Can't be worse.

lastingimpressionsfoamdotcom sells RV sized memory foam mattresses. Since we have memory foam mattresses in our sticks&bricks sleeping in the RV is just like sleeping at home. They almost always ship the next day and the mattress arrives quickly. It will be compressed but heavy. I was able to muscle it into our RV and then take off the wrapping that keeps it compressed. Love our Lasting Impressions mattress!

I just bought a Serenia Sleep 6" RV mattress. I a thinking I would like to use the original sleeping pad, errr, mattress, as either a mattress topper or a pad to lie between the new 6" mattress and the plywood it sits on. Is one of these options better than the other? I normally like a softer mattress, and a few reviewers mentioned this being firm. Thanks in advance!

We ordered our 5th wheel and eliminated the mattress so we could add our own. Just make sure that your replacement mattress is not so heavy that you cannot lift up your bed. We had to replace our lifts because even though it was a foam mattress, it was pretty darned heavy.

An FYI on the lifts. Most of the time you can just re-position the lifts slightly closer to the bed platform hinge to hold the increased mattress weight.

You can order a memory foam mattress from Amazon, they have several short queens. Prices from about $200-359.
We bought a standard queen for the house and the wife and I love it!

This may or may not be of help but in Detroit (I think it's in Detroit) there is a company "Tri County Matress Factory" as I recall.. They are on Telegraph near McNichols (6 Mile).. but of course you are not going to go there.

Thing is there are many such companies around the country... There may be one like it near you.. Call them, make an appointment, Drive to their lot,, "Set up" (very short set up, just enough to enable them to access the bed) invite one of their people in with his tape measure and note pad.. Then pull the slides back in go inside and choose fabric, firmness, and such

Done that with both my trailers (Save I hauled the matteress to them and let 'em measure it there).

Come back in a few days (When they call) Hand over the dough-ray-me (MOney) and swap mattresses with them. THey can dispose of the old one in most cases.. (or you take it to the disposal center).

Uh.....no.

Someone recommended Tuft & Needle mattress to my wife she was unhappy with our RV mattress she wished we had replaced with the custom one we had in the S&B's. She ordered it and is happy with it. Me I could sleep on rocks, at least I did when tent camping.

Hiker, you find one yet? I found a couple local options when I was researching 3 years ago. Ended up building my own - www.foamfactory.com - worked out really well and economical! ST

Of all the things we skimp on while campin', comfort while sleeping is not one of them. I actually extended our bed frame to handle a california queen pillow top mattress. Purchased from a normal mattress store.

This has to be the second most asked question on the forums.
If it is a standard mattress size, go to your favorite local mattress store and start trying them out. Pick the one you like best. Have it delivered and your old one hauled away.

Thanks, it's actually a short Queen and I have found one.
