replacing curtains with valance?

Hi all,
My 2005 has the super-dated curtain top valance with the now faded side curtains. I would love to ditch the side curtains and make or buy a fabric covered top valance to update the look.

Anyone done this and have any thoughts or recommendations on where to start?

So part of the problem I have is that my trailer doesn't have the solid top valance already. Instead it just has a curtain, which I would like to replace with the solid kind, while losing the side curtains.

I'm looking to build or buy a top valance to replace the stock setup over the dinette.

No ours was dated. 2001 and all pink on inside. we removed the side pieces, and took off the valance. took off curtain and wife stapled new material to same board. put back on. not as fancy but worked real well. did all the door trim also.

Pretty simple to make. Build some wood frames, add a little swoop to the top piece for design and then do as "NYCgrrl" suggested. Once they're done, add some "L" brackets on the inside to mount to wall. Most of the manufacturers use two washers welded together at a right angle instead of the "L" brackets.

Sounds like a fun project. If you can afford it, add some MCD shades to make a nice update. If you do, make sure the new valances are at least 4" deep to fit the shades. Do a few at a time.

Well I've reupholstered a valance or two in my life. Not too difficult w/ an electric stapler, new fabric and possibly batten, piping (homemade or store bought), and a glue gun for the sewing machine challenged.
