Reserve America requires SS number?

Just spent an hour on reserve america, where I've booked camp sites for several years. It was not a fake site as I could look around at campsites, etc. I went to book and it said I am required to put in an SS number as part of a Federal code to catch deadbeat parents for unpaid child support....THAT IS NOT ME!

Point is, I immediately closed the page. Is this normal? I would never give an SS number to reserve america. What gives?

Yea anybody can accidently make a typo (like one key next to the correct one on the keyboard) when entering #s into a computer so I guess there could now be a huge increase in "honest mistakes" when entering your SSN ... HINT, HINT 😛 Where there is a will there is always a way and I doubt the courts would hold you liable for simply an "honest mistake" if it ever should come to that :B

The government and everyone else under the sum is "data mining". Forget being a "private” person these days as anyone with the money, power, or technology can determine who, what, when and where you are.

Back in the sixties when I was reading Scientific American, Bell Labs Record, and a few other science periodicals, I could not even dream as to what could/would happen with technology.

We have true "heroes" of our time such as Dr. Ben Carson and then we have crooks and government.

Like the guy from Carolina said SS # is NOT a valid form of identification so they have NO legitimate reason to ask for it. Might as well give them your bank account as well. NOT

So the identification requirement to stay in a campground, is tougher than the identification requirement to vote.

Great another computer system to be hacked and your SSN will be in a criminal's hands. No thanks, I will not reserve a site in that state or any other if they ask for my SSN.

I guess we won't be reserving any campsites I Kansas through Reserve America.
There better be better ways to catch the deadbeats.

I went on the site and was ALSO asked for SS number to book a site. I VERY seldom use Reserve America as usually my choice is Recreation.gov. It will NOW become my exclusive and I will NOT put my SS number in to reserve a campsite.

In case you didn't get the word, we are all soon to have national ID cards issued by the same people that collect your taxes, make Social Security and Medicare work so well. Just because the only reason the issuance of Social (In)Security numbers got passed was that the provision was included that it not be a means of citizen identification.

Their hands may be tied if it is law for Kansas. But, I would never put that info in for a campground reservation either. I'll just go somewhere else.

What if you aren't a US resident and don't have a SSN? Does that mean you can't camp in Kansas?
