I made resis at Pirateland for next July. IF you want a good site. You better call now. for all CGS not just PL. They are going fast.
BTW, Call now and avoid the rate increases for next year.

FYI. You CAN reserve a specific site at PL IF you reserve, and pay for 7 nights in advance. We are on 135. A HUGE site, 4th back from the beach. Only around 50 yards to the sand.

We stayed a week at Myrtle Beach Travel Park last month for the first time and they still had empty spots the whole time we were there. The campground was great, terrific for families, and right at the beach. I am not sure we should all panic and worry about next year right now. Our family cannot plan vacations until after January, if it is like this year we should be fine.

I should also mention that Myrtle Beach Travel Park will not let you reserve specific sites. They will make a note of the area you prefer but your site is assigned when you arrive at the location they choose that will accommodate your set up.

See, NO OCEAN:R Not a ocean in sight, no waves, no big fishing piers, no restaurants on the piers. No Dolphins swimming by, No King fishers diving into the surf or Pelicans skimming the waves. No need for me to go there. IF it were in the cool of the mountains, yes. But it's not in the mountains, and it's NOT at the beach, We don't camp in between. Too hot with no ocean.

And do please remember. I started this thread to suggest folks get their BEACH reservations as soon as possible. Before they are all taken. As Willow Tree is not near the beach. It was not part of that equation. I'm very happy you like it. It leaves more sites for us beach goers. That is why there are more than one CG. Some for people that like the beach, and go for the beach, and some for people that don't like the beach. For beach goers. It does not fit the bill.
Thank you for proving my point.

But there is nothing like walking out of your TT onto the beach for a morning shell hunt. then walking back to the TT for breakfast, then back out to see the crowd, back for lunch, out after lunch, back for a snack, and back out after supper to fly kites on the beach. Do that from Willow tree.
To be honest. IF we couldn't stay on the beach, we wouldn't go. As I say, we don't camp in between. We are either on the beach, or in the mountains. No draw for us in a hot flat CG with no ocean. May as well stay at WalMart.

Hot and flat?

You left out OCEAN. Make ALL the difference. See it right out side my camper????????:S

we are the same. direct beach access at our fingertips or we aren't staying ๐Ÿ™‚
the beach is the one reason we go to the beach LOL

we do state parks. Huntington Beach state park or Hunting Island when in that area. MB State park is tight sites but ok but not preferred by us.

When daughter was smaller we did Ocean Lakes, Pirateland, Apache etc in that area because of the amenities...lazy rivers, pools, pier etc. Great fun for kids but the crowded of it all was not what we like, we prefer the state parks.

you are so right about reservations going very fast in that area...MB can be a zoo ๐Ÿ™‚ but fun area!

first of June is not so bad. End of June to the end of August, It is almost impossible to get a oceanfront site at any MB oceanfront CG, 9 months out. When I called yesterday. We could not get any of the sites we wanted for next July. they were all already taken. Another 2 months, and the top 4 CG will be totally full for next End of June to end of August.

At Ocean Lakes where they take reservations 18 months out. They prolly don't have any real good sites left now. Folks don't understand how many people really go to MB for their vacation. It is the favorite vacation spot for both NC, SC, and the surrounding states.

In July just at Ocean Lakes, which is the largest of the CGs. Every day in July, and August there are more than 10,000 people in that one CG. Lake wood, and PirateLand are smaller, but they are full as well.
Thing is. IF you make the reservations now, you will have them. IF it turns out you can't go. You can cancel. But if you don't have them, your choices are gone.

We are thinking of Myrtle Beach next year as we have never been. We have looked into two campground on the water but neither was Pirate Land. Not sure what Pirate Land has but the two we looked at had water parks and lazy rivers as well as the beach. We are planning a Sept trip and the two campgrounds that came to the Boston RV show said that Sept was a great time to go and that most of the crowds would be gone. We shall see. Will not book for awhile, still have not booked this Sept trip yet.

Sept is good. Kids are back to school, and it is not so hot.
Pirateland also has a lazy river, splash zone, huge pool, Indoor heated pool bathouses have AC. And the sites on the beach are HUGE. Back in the trees the sites are tight, but on the beach, huge. And they have picnic table shelters.

Here is what this ole geezer likes about Myrtle.

It has a bypass

I do venture there for Sams and Costco.

My haven is down south at Huntington Beach State Park.

In another 2 years, we'll have abbrevations for abbrevations. 25 years from now, no one will know how to use proper English. It'll all be dashes, 2 letter abbrevations and clicking sounds made from the back of the throat.
