Reverse Snowbird----Seek summer site in Smokies/Cumberland

We call ourselves Reverse Snowbirds.

down home, we have been to northern Michigan in our TT and aboard our boat. Very nice SUMMERS!

The Cumberlands, especially around Crosseville is an excellent atmosphere. Drier and a good bit cooler than the valleys. the breezes from the west lift, on the western slopes and go way over sucking up the moisture and lowering temps. It does get warm like the mid eighties sometimes. It reaches 90 or so, well it is noted on everyone's calendar in some locations :) I'm just making this up. Stay away. Everything is high here including the temperatures. I here northern Michigan is nice.

Believe it or not "snowbirds" has a definition in the dictionary. It is: "someone who spends the winter months in a warm place."

So you can still qualify if you go north in the summer. Just make sure you are in a warm place in the winter. :)

I believe you will find the Smokys a little warm. You should try on farther up into NC, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Much, MUCH cooler up around Boone, Linville, Glendale Springs. In fact the average summer temp at Linville Falls is right at 70F.

However. If you want to be in the Smokys. Try Holly Cove just out of Cherokee. It is higher up, and cooler than Cherokee. But still close. A really nice park just off the expressway. Great views.
