Hi,
Freezing the fridge when it is non operational is just fine. Freezing it when it is running is what causes damage. If you followed the link and understood what was said it would lead to enlightenment.

You should be fine. If it does not cool well put a light bulb at night in the outside vent area as it takes heat to make it work.
