CW is slowly taking over the RV sales industry by buying up every dealer in the country it seems. When they have enough of the dealers it will be a different world. Can you say list price.
Like any other large company with multiple outlets it's not the company you are dealing with. It's the local staff that makes or breaks the service you receive. If CW bought a terrible dealer guess what you get. If they bought a great dealer guess what you get. They do not replace the entire staff when they take over, where would they get the people?
I think it's good that they are trying something new, if you're not moving forward you are backing up. As to the junk units they want to move out, do you really think that they built them?

I bought my Tiger online from the factory 11 years ago, had it delivered directly to my home, and have never been sorry.

Factory is East Coast, I am West Coast. I did go and look at someone's Tiger about 150 miles from me before the purchase. All contact with the factory was by phone, e-mail, and paper mail. A member of the build team drove it from the factory and spent half a day with me while I examined it and he answered any questions. There was one problem, and warranty work was performed by my local RV guy and paid for by the factory.

There was a fee for delivery service, but it was much less than the cost of taking off work, flying to the East Coast, and driving the vehicle home myself.

Was about to say that this is the norm in the egg camper world where the manufacturers are small enough to not have a dealer network. The factory will put you in contact with someone near you who is willing to let you look at their unit and then you provide your customizations and they deliver directly to you. Any problems found are handled by independent repair shops that belong to whatever networks the manufacturer deals with unless they are so severe that they require a return to factory.

Of course this is working with Camping World, not a small boutique manufacturer who has a reputation to uphold and who knows that they get most of their money through word of mouth referrals, so the results are unlikely to be as customer focused.

Not good for the RVer, but I'm sure they will feel like they are getting a great service. This will probably be popular with first time RVers who don't know any better. I'm sure Camping World will have plenty of fine print to protect them against owners who don't know any better.

Our dealer delivered our current TT to our seasonal site. We did the PDI at their lot and they delivered the next day. The delivery guy parked it exactly where we wanted it. He got it leveled, stabilized and hooked everything up, including the sewer even though I told him I'd take care of that. He also made sure everything still worked. He refused to take a tip. He was at our site for 90 minutes. There was no extra charge for delivery as we discussed delivery after agreeing on a price.

This service will be great for folks that don't have a dealership local to them. There are RV shows all over the country. Find the unit you like at the show then call Camping World to purchase it. As long as the price is right and everyone is happy, works for me.

I toured the factory, looked at a few models, then had one delivered.

The Millennial's are in for a rude awakening.

Buying a car and having it delivered, in my opinion, is one thing. A RV would be totally different. I don't feel RV's would work well as PDI will always uncover something that probably needs to be ordered or repaired.

On edit: I'm thinking of motorized RV's, a travel trailer, 5th wheel might be different.

Did you buy it online or actually go to the dealer lot? This article is about people ordering online and having it delivered. Like Amazon.

And they'll provide a comprehensive walk through and orientation upon delivery LOL. It sure seems they can't accomplish that on their lots? Maybe they can do it in your driveway. I have a 4 lane bridge I'll let go cheap here in western PA.

I tried to get pricing from CW in Harrisburg PA back a few year ago over the phone and net. All I received was run around and a load of bull.

So do they drive all the way back out to your house for warranty work?

As for buying sight unseen, we did that with our current TT and could not be happier.
As long as you have a dealer who has a stellar reputation I see no harm in it.

CW seams to have a hard time keeping folks happy when they already know of issues... I do not believe that CW can make this work...
