RV Washing Machines?

We keep telling ourselves we're "just looking" >>sigh<< BUT the ones we're "just looking" at have either the stack W/D or the W/D combo. My question is what does one wash in them? The ones I've seen look like they'd maybe be able to wash a couple of pair of socks at most!

Are they really worth the price, loss of space, water usage and humidity in the coach?

There's a small washer called the EZYwash Portable Washer. Saw it at Camping World and on line. Under $100. For smaller loads. I'm seriously thinking of getting one this season. Has good reviews. Won't do everything but I've also seen a spinner sold separately. Seems it would be great for underwear, shirts and socks. These were the items I washed most on last year's trip. I plan to set it in the tub for overflows. Won't have to waste time at Laundromats. Probably pay for itself in 1 summer of travel.

We are full timers going on 10 years. We do all our laundry in a combo. Usually 1 load per day unless we are dry camping. After 10 years we put in the new version. The old one still worked but was going to need parts soon. We do quilts etc at a commercial laundry or dry cleaner. Couldn't imagine not having our splendide.

Wow, if you only wash clothes every two weeks, you must be carrying lots of clothes with you. We just do not own that much clothing and we are fulltimers. We have the stackable units. We do our laundry when we want to, not waiting for machines to become available and not knowing what was washed or dried in them. Have seen some yucky things including dryers where someone urinated in them. We have run the washer without sewer hook ups, run the washer using the water pump, and even run the washer on the generator when exercising it monthly. Worked well every time. We can wash everything including our throw rugs with the exception of our quilt. The dryer is only 110 so it is not as efficient as a residential one.

We are on a permanent site and often stay a few weeks at a time. I hate to wash in public machines...so I bought this little Wonder Washer. It's a hand crank-er so you get a good upper arm workout to boot! Has an amazing capacity. Then you spin in the electric spinner (very little capacity). Then hang out to dry. Tides us over til we go home to mow and do laundry.

We have the Splendide Ariston set. We have been full time for 2 1/2 years. I did the math & it has more than paid for itself.
The washer holds a lot more than you think it will. A typical load for us will be queen sheets, several golf shirts & shorts, plus underwear. A load of towels will have 4 bath sheets, a couple of hand towels & his dark socks.
The limiting factor for load size is the dryer. If you look at a the drum size of the separate units, the dryer is ~2x the capacity of the washer, so the clothes can tumble while drying. Also residential dryers are 220 while RV dryers are 110, so it takes longer to dry clothes.
It does come down to personal preference. I hate sitting in a laundromat for several hours. I can be off playing pickle ball or swimming or biking or walking the dog while the machine is doing it's thing.

We had a separate washer/dryer in our first Mobile Suites and went that route again with our current MS. Works great. No waiting in line at campground laundry rooms or finding machines "Out of Order".

Worth the price. No regrets.

We love ours, stackable ....so dryer seperate from washer. We can easily wash 4 pairs of jeans at a time. We would not like the all in one combo units though.

We have the combo unit. And I use it. It's easy to run a load sometime throughout the day. If we aren't heading right out in the morning I can knock out a load then. If not, if we are at the rv early in the evening, I'll run a load. I'd prefer the stackable but the combo is what came with our new rig. I am much happier doing our laundry in our machine rather than at a laundrymat. I don't have to pack as many clothes or linens. And it's great when we are in Florida to keep towels dry, sportsclothes washed up & swimsuits free of pool or ocean water. I'm glad to have it!

Can you guess where the W&D was supposed to go in here? Not long after the pic was taken almost everything in those bags was put away where the W&D would have taken up space.

We do one big shop a month & once a week for perishables. There is plenty room for more shelving but there has not been a need for it.

We were thrilled when our last coach had the combo unit. In theory it sounded awesome. Used it the first season, barely the second and didn't even bother to dewinterize it after that. Too small, much easier to hit a campground laundry in the evening or first thing in the morning and everything is done in one shot. This coach has the hookups but no unit, we use the space for storage. Put some decent shelves in there...much more useful than the w/d unit would ever be.

We included a Whirlpool RV stack W/D set in our 5'er when we ordered it 10 years ago and it was the best $800 option we could have purchased. Anytime we have full hookups, we usually do our laundry the night before and on the morning we plan to leave. When we're out just for a weekend, we only use the dryer to dry wet bath towels. But when we're out more than 3 days we usually do sheets and laundry. We throw a load in the washer when we go to bed, then dry that load in the morning while washing another load before heading out for the day or hitting the road. The W/D sets may look small but you'll be surprised at their capacity. Our W/D set is 10 years old and both work very well...the newer RV stack W/D models are larger in capacity and more efficient I'm sure. Would we buy another stack W/D for our 5'er? You bet!!! If we were to replace our current 5'er for some reason, a stack W/D in our next RV would be a must have option. Hanging out at an RV campground laundromat is not my idea of fun. And it kind of creeps me out to wash my clothes in machines that who knows what was washed in there before and by whom.

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

Use one side of a kitchen sink with some detergent and elbow grease. Then use the other side of the sink to rinse. Wring out the clothes by hand and clip to a line in the bathroom or hang over the shower stall. If you're boon docking in a remote area you can even hang them from a line outside. Works great, and much less expensive than a washer/dryer combo or a laundry.

we have separate units but do not use a "RV washer or dryer" .... with the single unit machines one only has a couple of choices but with separate machines you can use any one that will fit the cabinet .... our current machines are made by Whirlpool and were installed in our camper by Lowe's .... they are apartment size and as has been noted, one can't wait until Saturday to do all of the wash .... the advantage of none RV machines is you can get them worked on about anywhere
