satfi

Some how I got onto the email list for the British MH forum and have some very interesting things and seen some awesome caravans.
In the latest issue of Outdoor Bits, they had an article about the Telcom sat receiver that gets wi-fixed and 2 tv channels. Wow. How come we don't have anything like that. I'm on my way to visit my daughter on Carlsbad, CA who works for Viasat communications and will ask her about if they are planning anything like that. They do Milsat,Excede and in flight wifi you can get on several airlines.
  • The main reason a lot of other countries get some advanced technology before the US is that they don't have wiring the infrastructure to support that technology. So they have to go to non-wired solutions.

Can you imagine the difficult of putting new phone cables into a county where homes, sewers, water, etc - are 200-300 years old? Much easier to put up cell towers for phones, satellite dishes for TV, and for internet in many places.

The United States has what is probably the strongest cable infrastructure of any nation in the world. Both copper and fiber-optic.

That a very high percentage of US households and businesses have access to high-speed land-line internet makes the business model of satellite services difficult.

There have to be enough people willing to put up with the latency issues of satellite internet - and so far - no US company has been able to make it work financially.

    Maybe in the future.

I could certainly be a customer.
