The main reason a lot of other countries get some advanced technology before the US is that they don't have wiring the infrastructure to support that technology. So they have to go to non-wired solutions.

Can you imagine the difficult of putting new phone cables into a county where homes, sewers, water, etc - are 200-300 years old? Much easier to put up cell towers for phones, satellite dishes for TV, and for internet in many places.

The United States has what is probably the strongest cable infrastructure of any nation in the world. Both copper and fiber-optic.

That a very high percentage of US households and businesses have access to high-speed land-line internet makes the business model of satellite services difficult.

There have to be enough people willing to put up with the latency issues of satellite internet - and so far - no US company has been able to make it work financially.

Maybe in the future.
