I noticed a number of people stay in Show Low AZ. Is it a spot for snow birds or is there something special that I should drive 100++ miles out of my way to see.

The answer is Colorado or New Mexico - anyplace above 5,000 feet elevation.
If I'm ever in Arizona in the summer - Show Low sounds a lot better than Phoenix or Tucson.
