Slide Out Repair

Hi all,

Looking at the slide out on my 2005 Coachmen Concord. The lower front corner cap looked to be bulged out so I removed it to see what the issue was.

It seems the section that is further out is missing a couple screws to hold it flush. I am going to put the screws back in to see what that does. But it seems like if I do the lower corner will push out as well. Does it look like the slide out needs adjustment?

Thanks

Kurt
  • Maybe it leaked a little water into it. Then in the winter it froze and expanded. Think polar vortex last winter. Then spring came, and them warmer weather dried things up. But the damage is done. But you don't see any wetness now.

Being from NH, we see that sort of stuff often...when spring rolls around. Not all that likely in Georgia. But that polar vortex could have changed that this year. We camped a week in Hiltonhead for a week of less than 10 degree temps.

So the real problem just may be poor sealing. But the wood might need replacing too.
  • Is the white piece that shows through in the crack the bottom seal? If so I'd say it needs to be back further as it looks like it is forcing the bottom of the slide out. I'd think the bottom section should line up with the vertical section.
  • Mostly dirt and grime. Did not see any rotted wood. The plastic corner cap sealed this whole corner off from the elements. The gap between the front vertical piece and rear horizontal piece seemed to be designed that way, as the rear corner is the same way.
