Stage 2 Fire Ban - Jefferson County, CO

With the dry weather, high temps and numerous wildfires around here, it was only a matter of time before a Stage 2 went into effect. Below is a link to the JCSO site that explains everything. Good info there!

We are currently camping at Chatfield Resevoir, and it's pretty dang hot during the day! Took the pups in the water and they cooled off nicely! Campground is fairly packed, gearing up for next week!
  • Yes, there are a lot of idiots out there. Every year here, there are grass and brush fires started in just that manner. Normally, though, those fires are easily accessible and quickly extinguished. The conditions now are so extreme, though, that even one tiny spark can turn into an 81,000 acre conflagration. With July 4th only a week away, it could get really scary around here. I'm really praying for some relief this weekend.
  • A few years back when we had the large fires in Central TX, there were still people flicking lit cig butts out their car window. I'm just dreading what the obliviots will cause this year if we get those tinderbox conditions again.
