States Map Protocol

Got a new rv and it doesn't have a sticker map yet. What is the protocol for posting the stickers. Is it the states that the RV has visited, the states I have visited and stayed at, or the states I have used the RV in? I think I am going to start over new but looking for recommendations.

Thanks.

If I had it to do over, would put the sticker map on a piece of plexiglass the size to fit the bottom half of my screen door - so could take it with me when changed RVs ..

But we have finally this year (2015) filled in last six states (around the Great Lakes) visited, a couple we have not over-nighted in as too small for us. But all the rest have the rule must spend overnight in that state to count.

Feels so good to accomplish a Goal even if it took us 11 years to do so.

.

There's no camping in Hawaii?

Not with your Mainland RV, unless you're really made of money (very expensive shipping costs).

But, you can always rent one there and claim the same credit. (Are you marking where you've camped or where your RV has traveled? That's your call.)

There was a time when packing a tent and spending several days in a tent while cooking over a fire was considered camping.
So I guess now for a person to be camping it has to be in an RV?
I mark where I've camped. But then I guess I really wasn't camping when I spent time in tents.
Your call what you consider camping. Guess tent camping isn't what you consider camping. Strange how times have changed.

I don't think the concern is that tent camping is not camping. If you have a map on your tent, and you used it in Hawaii, by all means fill in the Hawaii section on that map. :W

Or just fill in all the states whose abbreviations contain at least one vowel, if you wish....

It's kind of silly to just claim states where your RV has been. My RV isn't the story of what I've seen and been to. No one is going to ask my RV what it's seen in LA, Key West, Bangor, or Seattle.
Do you claim where your tow vehicle has been on another map?
But it's your map - you do whatever makes you feel good.
Just remember - there's more to camping than riding around in your RV. I'm sure you think that's really roughing it and you can brag to your friends how much you had to suffer while "camping". Many don't consider RVing camping.
You can sticker your stickers wherever.

Actually there is a place in Hawaii somewhere that rents VW camper vans, with the pop top. I told my wife when we go to Hawaii we have to rent one for at least a night so I can put it on the map!

Haven't got the map yet, DW and I can't agree on what to put on it. Thought we might just cut out the area of the state we actually were in, that might start some conversation.

If I were to have a map, it would be states we camped in. But that would just be my preference. Honestly, I don't think people really care where we've been or where we are going. Unless they follow us on our website or YouTube channel. But even then, it's few and far in between...lol

We only fill in the states we have camped in. I wish the Canadian provinces were not so large as we have camped in three of them. Did not plan for Canada when we located the map, We would have to cover much of a window.
Drive thru states, we have been in all but three.
