States Map Protocol

Got a new rv and it doesn't have a sticker map yet. What is the protocol for posting the stickers. Is it the states that the RV has visited, the states I have visited and stayed at, or the states I have used the RV in? I think I am going to start over new but looking for recommendations.

Thanks.

Several of the visited states on his RV were places he had flown to. That didn't make much sense to me. Why put it on the camper if you don't take your camper there?
To each their own.
Happy camping!

We've camped in Hawaii. When stationed there we camped in a tent quite a few nights. Who would think that a person could actually camp in a tent and not an RV?!! A tent. What an novel camping idea! Next thing you know people will be cooking outside over a fire and claim that's dining out.

I have decided not to put any stickers on plain map outline. I think this will be the best for me as there seem to me too many rules. Thanks for the input as I am sure this will start many conversations as well.

I don't have a map yet, but I plan on putting the states I have stayed in, and I want to add little starts or dots to the location of the campgrounds. I live in Arizona, but stay in California mostly.

You know after giving this more thought, I think you should go ahead and stick every state on it as a conversation starter.

Do whatever makes YOU smile when YOU look at that map.

Decades ago I was keeping a tally on states visited on business trips. At 100+ travel days a year, they stopped making me smile. Even though a lot of the fun wore off, I still made some border-runs with the purpose of increasing the tally. Very thoughtful of Southern Wisconsin to put an outlet mall that close to Chicago.

The Federal Recreational Vehicle State Map Sticker Commission (hereinafter referred to as the "FRVSMSC") requires, under penalty of law, that no sticker be placed "on, near, or proximately" to any map "purporting to be that of the United States of America", unless the driver of the vehicle in question has stayed at least 3 hours in said state, not counting travel time through the state.
The FRVSMSC police are vigilant about enforcing this, and they are everywhere.
You have been warned.

I just ordered our map. We plan to add only states we've camped in as a family, so we're wiping out the first 25 years on Mom & Dads life.

Maybe we'll just do it in reverse and remove states we've camped in just to confuse people.

Driving through doesn't count for us. Neither does camping in the state. We have to be RVing, but we have to experience the state somehow; a museum, a park, etc.

I have not had my RV there (yet) but I have camped in Hawaii. We rented a tent trailer from the base when my folks came out and visited me when I was stationed there. Spent a great week on the beach at Bellows AFB.

Still have not decided if I am going to put that sticker on or not.

It is your RV and your map, you can do it any way you choose. What a country!

I started with then intention of taking a photo at every campsite and somehow I still manage to forget half of the time. Best intentions.

I do take the approach of camp instead of RV. I was a tent camper for years and still will occasionally. I've never camped in an RV in my home state of LA but countless nights in a tent. I've tent camped in Japan too but that's not easy to add to my map.

We apply states we've visited, and a sharpie black dot in the area we camped.

We only mark the ones we've spent at least one overnight in. If we get a new RV the list is erased and begins anew...some people mark the ones they've googled...:B...the choice is yours.....Dennis

I put the stickers on from the states I've RV'ed in (have to at least stay overnite.). I also keep the lakes off until I have at least dipped my toes in the water! For me I will always have the states filled in where "we" have RV'ed. So our next camper will have all the current states filled in and we'll keep adding from there.
