Stolen Diesel Fuel

After reading a prevous post about gas getting siphoned or lines cut to steal fuel, was wondering how many have had diesel fuel stolen from there rigs? I have 2 70 Gallon fuel tanks on the Freightliner and I cinch the caps down pretty tight with a pair of channel locks, no problems so far...

A thief can always use the same tool to open the caps.:E

Haven't had gas\fuel stolen in years and years...maybe from my car back in high school if ever...can't actually remember.

I used to siphon petrol outta my sisters car way back when... ๐Ÿ™‚

Not too worried about it actually.
I do read more and more people getting hit with gas tank punching.
Catalytic convertors are the big item with thieves here lately.

Always wondered:
Do gas stations lock the covers on the fill pipes in the ground?
I was watching a truck fill the tanks at a 76 station last week.
The driver just flipped up the cover stuck the hose connector on and started pumping.

Had an incident here in WV were a box van pulled up to a station right over the fill caps. I don't remember what happened but the thieves took off. When the LEOs got there they found a 500 gal converted propane tank with a pump attached and a hose stuck down in the station's gas tank. I don't know if they ever caught them or not.

I drive a Ford 6.4. I suspect someone is taking my fuel but have not been able to prove it. ๐Ÿ™‚

No telling how long they had been getting away with it but they were caught with 10 - 5gallon cans full of fuel. It was lucky someone spotted them and turned them into building security.

To add to this, I also had experience "some time ago" with owner-operator truck drivers who had such a rig on their tractor and would park next to another rig and pump fuel from the tank. They got great fuel mileage!!:E

I've had someone successfully boost a gas can in the bed of my pickup recently. Too bad that the container was eventually on its way to the Austin hazardous materials site because it had been sitting since 1999 in a shed.

I saw the gas can (well marked) nearby an apparently abandoned Mazda that was on the side of the road a couple hundred feet down from where my truck was parked. I'm guessing the "liberator" of the can earned the right to keep it having to pay for a tow, fuel line flush, and possibly engine repairs.

A friend of mine with an older F-150 that has two tanks did something more insidious. He moved the fuel fill for the working tank to the bed, and the tank with the fuel fill that wasn't used, he had filled up with rancid gas (so it did smell like gasoline) and water. Needless to say, there were plenty of times there was an inoperative vehicle near his truck.

Thinking about a "black tank " sticker and a fake dump valve on the tank(s).
Actualy I reef on the caps with a big water pump plier, they are thick castings and can take a lot of torque.

Had individuals attempt to go for gas and diesel containers in my truck bed last year,at a Federal campground, The truck alarm and "locking cables" stopped them in their tracks. It's valuable stuff and needs to be guarded.

you could always put a sticker on your vehicle advertising bio-diesel or veggie oil powered.
most people won't touch a rig using alternate fuels especially if they think all they will get is filtered used cooking oil.

Never diesel. Gasoline - yes, but not in the last 7 or 8 years.

I had wondered if we might lose diesel by punching tanks etc. It happens but our would have to be off the jacks, I think. No way could I crawl under i even when skinny.
