The "gnat line", as it's called around here, is actually well below Atlanta and shouldn't be an issue at all. However, travelnman is correct, areas that have gnats can be very unpleasant as the weather warms up. Probably not terrible right now, but in a few weeks you won't want to camp anywhere south of Macon without some serious bug spray!
