Storage Tub That Fits A Weber Q

sonora

I just bought a Q220 for my 5th wheel trailer and needed a container to store it in when traveling. I found one that works good and has a bit extra room for grilling extras too.

Here is a link to it at Lowes: http://centrexplastics.com/2011/10/45-gallon-wheeled-rugged-tote/

It is a 45gal plastic tub and it is well made and has wheels to make moving easier. This may help others who need to store their grill also.

The Qs are plenty tough, so we just have the fabric cover for ours. Then just slide it into the storage area, tools are in a bag that slides under it. I take the gas cylinder off

Your mid size Q offers 280 sq in of cooking surface, the smallest Q 189 sq in which most including me find quite sufficient. 🙂 The smaller dimension Q is lighter and therefore easier to store, easier to move about. I have a larger Q220 on my deck here at the house so I have no need to move it but for camping I much prefer the smaller Q. Personal preference. 😉

FWIW that link you included in your first post is invalid. 😞

Agree, a duffle bag works great if you can find the right size at the right price. I had one, put a plastic boot tray in the bottom to support the weight of the grill ... stupid cat peed on it so that's when I started using a bin instead. :W

Weber should make some sort of storage container, but all they have is a cover.

Absolutely, but for some reason Weber seems to be blind to the need. :S

I keep my Q 1200 in a Duffle Bag. A plastic Tote large enough to contain the grill was too big and wasted to much space.
I initially had a roadtrip that came with a lot more accessory options vs. the Weber Q including a nice wheeled storage bag.
Unfortunately the Roadtrip did not heat up so well.
The Weber Q works better however accessories including a storage container are lacking
Weber should make some sort of storage container, but all they have is a cover.
Keeping the smells contained helps keeps the critters/mice away. A nice charcoal smelling storage area is sure to attract critters.

Sound Guy your container in the 2nd pic is a Q- grill specific container vs the generic container in the first pic.

No it's not, that was a generic storage tub I bought here at our local Canadian Tire store about 10 yrs ago. Unfortunately CT hasn't sold this tub for a number of years now and despite looking everywhere I can think of I've never found another.

JMO, but a bin is essential for storing a Q and keeping the greasy cooking smells out of my truck (or out of the camper for an owner who stores there). I park our Q120 on the campsite table for use but once cooled put it back in the bin and stick it at the back of the camper - out of sight, out of mind, and the bin keeps my Q clean and free of bugs. I got one like this at Walmart for mine. Allows other things to be stacked on top.

But I drilled holes in it for ventilation purposes. I Just don't like the idea of closing up the grill - seems like all kinds of things could start growing inside that tub unless there's a little fresh air circulating. Looks like this is a minority opinion - oh well !

Sorry but those containers are not air tight so stopping the grill smells is a mute point.

BALONEY :R ... I've been storing my various Qs in bins like this for years and with the lid in place greasy cooking smells are entirely contained without having to be "air tight". :B Here's one of my favourites, no longer available unfortunately, but it certainly was "form fitting" ...

And FWIW, it's "moot", not "mute". :S

I've owned my Q since 2007. I've carried it 20,000+ miles in the basement of our old fiver, then 11,000 miles in our diesel pusher belly. Now we have downsized a bit but the same Q now stores in our toy hauler. It has been used every trip we have ever made and it was/is never stored in any container or covering. I do make a point to remove the burner and grate and give it a good cleaning every month or so.

I take the gas cylinder off and bungee it to the grill inside. We travel with a Baby Q, and have the 220 at home. The Baby takes a lot less space, and is plenty big for the two of us. Doesn't really need a container.

We also have a Baby Q, probably at least ten years old and an awesome little grill. Anyway, never needed a container for it either and we keep several cylinders in a little rack I installed in the storage compartment. My grill tools are hanging inside the door in my 5th's propane compartment.
