Just realized that we qualify for USAA insurance because the FIL is a Korean War vet. Tell me about your experience with USAA insurance.

Whatever *you* (or anyone) feel/believe is "The Best" = GREAT !..:C

For my personal experiences of over 59 years of auto insurance companies - I've never had an insurance company with what I would consider customer service *less than* top-notch!
(Including customer service for an at-fault accident by the DW many years ago).

However, an increase in premiums (for me) - means time to "shop around" and compare - apples to apples, of course!

When I moved my "domicile" to South Dakota, my vehicles & DL were then in SD.
I was no longer eligible for the vehicle insurance/s I had previously in my home state. (Company didn't do business in SD).

No big deal - Blue Skies & Progressive did great with coverage and *very* competitive prices!
(Due to low population - Insurance is very reasonable in SD).

Fast forward to....return to my previous "domicile" state.

I told Blue Skies I had left SD, and needed to be re-insured in my previous home state.

Yikes! - Sticker shock!..:( - Time to "shop around"!..:@

Anyway, USAA was among the companies I requested quotes from, - always apples to apples (no decrease in coverage/s).

Progressive & USAA were over $1K *more* (annually) than Wawanesa, which was the company I had before relocating to SD.

Easy decision!
Wawanesa again has my vehicles, RV and home owners insurance.
NO savings to "bundle" home owners.
NO 6 month policies - You must pay annually (3 payments is OK).
(Wawanesa is only avail in the West - and parts of Canada?)

BTW - I was in AAA paying registration fees. The gal behind the counter asked if I had considered AAA for vehicle insurance..:@

Told her I did (along with the others) - but AAA couldn't beat or match the price for insurance I then had.

She asked what company I was insured with??

When I answered Wawanesa, she (the AAA employee) surprised me by saying, - "We tried to get insurance with them, but my husband uses his car for work, and they wouldn't insure us".

Made my day!..:W

USAA should get LOTS of credit though - kinda like GS for sending junk mail - once you're on their mailing list/s it's - "forever"..:R

I almost went with them until I found out how great their "customer service" was around 2004/2005. USAA cancelled home owners insurance for everyone in FL and along the Gulf Coast after the hurricanes did all the damage. Didn't matter if one's home was damaged or not, come renewal time...well, there was no renewal.

My daughter and SIL have been with them for a number of years and love them. I almost thought about calling them when we moved but remembered FL and the GC. I suppose if you live in a place that has almost zero chance of damage due to Mother Nature then they might be a good choice. I just know they left thousands of good folks high and dry with no notice.

As stated customer service is top-notch.

They are actually an auto insurance company and then partner with third parties for other coverages (ie. progressive for RVs). This doesn't always make them the cheapest.

Almost went with them but had a claim 4 years ago (not auto) and company that handled their umbrella policies wouldn't write it without 5 year clear history.

Went with another company, got all the coverages I needed (auto, home, rental, rv, umbrella) quite a bit cheaper and so far their customer service has also been outstanding.
Due to depreciation the above opinions are now worth less than what you paid for them.

We are all good at something.....
I just happen to be a good bad example.

USAA is not the least expensive insurance but, IMHO, their service is world class so we don't price shop insurance. We get bonus money back twice every year from USAA ... which in affect reduces our premium costs around 15% per year.

Have been a member of USAA for 54 years. Auto insurance, banking and RV loan all through them. Don't have progressive insurance through them. I'll remain a customer as long as I need any of their services. All my kids have auto and homeowners with them. You will never find better customer service.

Been a member since 1978. House, cars, jewelry are insured through them. As stated earlier, they outsource their RV insurance. I did get my RV loan through them as well, one of the easiest transactions I have ever done. Filled out the paper work on line, digital sign the documents, sent the check overnight express.

As also stated, not the cheapest, but absolutely great customer service.

Not always the best price, but unbeatable for service. We have auto insurance and all banking with them.

Same here - great company. The RV and other toys get referred through to progressive. I don't shop for insurance as I feel like I'm getting good protection and they don't play games.

They've sent adjusters to give me an estimate of a totaled vehicle, even when another insurance was at fault. I simply forwarded USAA's value and got a check.
