Although it may be easier, in some cases, it is not necessary to make a new post to verify a signature chance. When one changes a signature, the change will be displayed on all existing posts, that already have a signature.

Signatures are not stored with posts. When a page is displayed, the signatures are added to the posts that should have them. The signatures are retrieved from the posters' accounts.
