Thetford Aquamagic V Leaking

Good day all! I'm new here. I have been reading alot of stuff here, but never made an account. I particularly like reading about peoples DIY mods and such. For the most part, any questions I have had, I could find a thread here somewhere where the topic was beaten until it was a dead horse.

And thank you for that!!

However, I have a question that I can't find the answer to. We have a travel trailer. This is our 3rd season with it. We've been pretty happy with it so far. However, we have developed a 'leak' in the toilet.

Here is a picture of the unit that is leaking. The water is coming out where the black plastic that is where the hose connects fresh water joins the white plastic of the unit (it's circled in red on the picture... sorry about the poor quality of the picture, btw...)

There's no cracks or anything like that, so I was thinking that I should be able to just put some glue in there. I was originally thinking about ABS cement/solvent, but this doesn't feel like ABS to me.

So, my question... what type of plastic is this? What type of glue can I use? Is it ABS? or PVC? Or something else? Should I just get some epoxy and glob it in there?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!
  • I will be replacing the unit. The problem is we're heading out on Monday for our week long trip. I don't know think I'll be able to order it and get it in time.

I will check with our local RV dealer. it's a popular unit, so hopefully they have stock.

    Thanks for the input, folks!!

  • If the back of your toilet is close to the wall you'll have to unbolt it from the floor to replace the water valve. Get the closet flange when you order the valve so the seal remains good. It took me about an hour from start to finish but you might be able to do it more quickly.
  • You won't be able to seal it from the outside with any glue. Buy a new module is the best cure.
