Time to change the water heater anode?

I'm thinking maybe next time I won't wait quite this long. :S

Actually there is a little zinc left and the tank flushed out nice clean after spitting out the crumbled chunks. I'll be picking up another anode for a spare (about $20 at CW - Suburban part # 232767), and checking it a little more often.

Also learned that if you do not have a large enough (1 1/16"), socket the large end of a lug (X) wrench fits just fine.

Just don't apply the same torque as you would a lug nut when installing the new anode rod. :E

So you think 145# might have been a tad too much? :h

Just kidding... LMAO!

The water at Buckskin Mountain SP in Parker AZ. will do a number on them. Even with a water filter I flush our heater every week to keep the smell down.

It's not absolutely necessary but, as long as you took it out, I would replace it. Put tfe ape on the threads.

Yep, true that. After 50 years in San Diego where the water is so hard you have to sneak up on a glass just to get a drink and Tucson for 10 years where the H2O isn't much better my insides look like Carlsbad Caverns.... :S

No wonder I drink beer.

Naw...stick it back in there. You can get at least another 5 minutes worth of use out of it....:)
