Bought my Silverado in So. Cal a year ago brand new (2011). Because California requires all pickups to be registered as commercial vehicles the registration was $600.00
Retired to Utah a year later (who doesn't have that requirement) and the license was a little less than half that amount. The way most states are hurting now, if you paying a low registration your paying for higher taxes somewhere else.
That's the way it works.
