Tire Born Dates

I'm getting ready to purchase 5 new Goodyear tires for my mh. Two of the tires have April as born dates...3 have October and November 2016. Is the October and November dates something I should be concerned about or should I go with them?

There is nothing wrong with tires that are 6 months old. They are still new as they were never used. I wouldn't hesitate!

Thanks everyone...reviews a little mixed but much appreciated. I have practically a new Goodyear from a road hazard..and decided to go with the five new Goodyears...warranty starts the day of actual purchase....6-12 months seems to be the safe time. Thanks again.

Up until about 5 years ago I never even gave tire dates a second thought. I've also never had any trouble out of my tires except for the junk tires that came on my toyhauler.

Granted, I wouldn't really want to buy tires that are several years old, but it's possible I've done just that in the past. How many people buy tires without having any idea of when they were manufactured and never had an issue? My guess would be tons and tons of people.

However, I was recently informed by a poster that the date a tire warranty begins is the date of manufacture, not the date of purchase. I'm not totally sure I buy into that, but I have no information to the contrary. That would put a different spin on knowing when your tires were made.

Only 5 tires on a motorhome?

I would want all my tires to be from the same run with the same date.

Buying replacement tires I tend to agree. However, my trailer, which was manufactured in Jan of 2017 has 4316 born date tires. They would have been no more than 3 months old. However, I bought the trailer at the end of July 2017, so the tires are around 9 months old. There is no way a dealer is going to take off those 9 month tires and put on new ones that are may only be 3 months younger.

I have been dealing with the same independent tire shop for 25 years. Although the old miserable bastard that owns the place is a great guy, I am fairly certain if I asked him to go in the back and search through stacks of tires looking at date codes, because I did not want anything older than 6 months, he would tell me to hit the bricks and buy my tires somewhere else while using some colorful metaphors LOL.

Frankly I have never had much of a concern as I figure I'll always wear them out tread-wear wise before they fail from age.
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Yes, all dates I mentioned are correct. I'm thinking about having the garage send them ALL back to dealer. I've been reading don't accept tires older than 6 months.

Buddy had a problem when the manufacture date was right at 5 years. They would not rotate the tires that where 5 years old and wanted him to buy new. The tires still look great, tread depth, wear pattern, & no weather checking. He decided to leave them & replace them next year. He was told that was per some Michelin memo.
