tires out of round because of bent wheels

I had new tires put on my motorhome about 4 months ago, noticed a bad bouncing on front tires, took it back to dealer, was told I had 5 bent wheels on the unit, and now must buy new wheels and tires, as the tires are out of round because of the bent wheels. Could this be true, and why was I not told of the bent wheels when they put the new tires on.

Uh....no! Your wheels may have been bent when they installed the tires but I suspect you got bad tires. They manhandled those expensive rims, at the last place we had them balanced and nicked the inside of one of the rims.To them a MH Rims is a semi rim and don't care. The big tools they use on these rims can easily bend them jsut as some Tire Dealers mess up a lot, of Customers rims with the tools and don't give a damn treatment.
Go to a different Dealer. Let us know if they are bent and what that dealer says did it.

There is absolutlly no way that an RV is going to have five bent rims, unless it was in a tornado or a severe accident, if the front end is bouncing, they did not balance the tires, you are being taken advantage.

You need to find a different place to have your tires checked and balanced and then place a complaint with the District Attorney, that type of persons should be prosecuted for fraud.

You have 2 pgs off folks saying get a second option which is good advice. What I would do first is to jack up the front of the MH first and put a flat piece of wood under the tire and then rotate it and you will be able to see if tires are out of round and how much. For your tires to bounce do to being out of round you should see 1/4 in or more.

IMO You need to have somebody look at it that knows what they are doing.

Without knowing tire size, how many miles on new tires and if they were balanced when installed. The best thing you could do is get a second opinion. I worked in a truck tire shop repairing flats and mounting new tires. What your being told by your tire dealer is very... very... unlikely. Go to another tire shop for an inspection.

How far have you driven since the tires were put on?
Did they balance the tires using weights or did they throw the bags of balancing beads into the tires. If the bags are used then it may take a while to seek the right balance.
I suggest you take the rig to a INDEPENDENT TRUCK repair place and get their opinion.

Maybe he bent them when he put the tires on. Not likely they could all be bent, find a new tire guy.

Tires out of round yes, A tire shop can fix that. Bent wheels??? The dealer is after your money or he doesn't know what he is talking about. Ask him how he determined the tires were bent, guess work doesn't work.

Try a truck service center or the chassis dealer.
It might be a wheel (not tire) mounting problem. Mine had one.
The wheel was not properly centered on the hub.

Unless you have off-roading with your MH, it is very unlikely you have five bent wheels.

I'd get a second opinion about the front tires.
Is there another store in Kerrville that can do the work? Fredericksburg? San Antonio? Comfort?
Be sure to wait while they check. If there is any problem, they should show you and explain it to you so you can understand why.
Be prepared to pay for the balancing.

The only time I've had a "bent wheel" on any vehicle I've owned is after being in an accident. Definitely get a second opinion.

It's possible but unlikely that you would have 5 bent wheels. I would go to a different tire distributor and get a second opinion. If you smile, I bet it won't cost a dime for inspection.
