Titan XD 5th Wheel Hitch

Well there's a silver lining I suppose.

Yes, Grit Dog, my mistake to post any numbers when asking for towing advice. However, because of all the questioning, it did force me to actually weigh my truck & 5th wheel and do the math. After adding a 2nd AC on the 5ver, a new tonneau cover for the truck, and allowing for loading an additional 1,000 lbs. of gear, I have used up almost all of the available GVWR on my XD. And yes I did include the extra weight of my dear wife! So, after being slightly "offended" by all the potential issues raised by others, it actually was helpful in the end.

I think you've got it figured out. Using the pucks will be a more solid attachment, than just using the single point ball attachment. If you stay below your RAWR, you should be good on the weight.

I've never needed a sliding hitch, been towing with a 6.7' bed since 99.

I would go with the Aluminum AUH gooseneck version.

Your trailer is not that heavy and that hitch should handle it with no problems.

Please report back after you get some miles under your belt with this combo.

If you have the factory gooseneck package Curt and Demco makes a fifth wheel hitch that fits in your gooseneck receiver and your pucks.

Congratulations on your new trailer. We use our 9,000#, 31 ft trailer and take everything we need with only 1,000 pounds of stuff, don't full time and travel with empty tanks and water heater. I would look into a sliding or articulating hitch, someday you will be glad you have the option to move the trailer away from your cab. Google the Blue Ox Super Ride articulating hitch. Relatively new but with some major innovations. Have only seen one review and it was positive. A comfortable to tow hitch is important.

Here's a thought.....

MAYBE the OP has taken HIS truck to the scales with it loaded up and after getting the numbers, performed some simple mathmatics in regard to his RAWR/GVWR and now knows HIS ACTUAL payload for HIS truck, hence the 2560lb number. Hmmmm.....mind-bowing, right? To that end, any "brochure/pdf" analysis is simply not applicable to his situation. :)

The OP seems like a pretty proficient fella', and even mentions that if the XD isn't a perfect fit for the job he will adjust accordingly.

Now, just for kicks ;) I'm going to make a comment on his actual question regarding short bed trucks and hitches.

I had a Ram short box and used an Andersen rail mount and an '18 Reflection. I had lots of clearance on every front, although I did watch carefully when backing up if there were any dips etc in the approach to the site, which I would have done with whatever hitch I was using regardless. Never had any issues.
The hitch has a few adjustments that you can make, so that's a plus as well.

I looked at the XD's gooseneck set up on the Nissan site when I was searching for payload PDF's.....(lol., no, I wasn't) and it "appears" that the chain attachment points in the bed are pretty close to the gooseneck ball? You might want to take some measurements in that regard to see if the Andersen footprint will fit in-between everything. Could be my aging eyes, but would be worth confirming.

I look at the 2018 specs for an XD GAS King Cab wheelbase of 139.8" that is dang short. Over 5 inches shorter than fords 150 short wheelbase trucks at 145.

Looking at Nissens 2018 PDF specs shows 242"...243" and 151" wheel base and 1910 lb up to 2470 lb payloads.

Looking at Nissens 2018 advertising brochures shows a std cab with a 139" wheel base.
With 8800-8900 gvwr on the Titans its possible some can have 2500 lb + gvwr based payloads.
