Toad Repairs

Took the toad (2011 HHR) in for spring checkup, New battery and replace broken inside driver side door handle. Everything went OK, but the door handle cost MORE than the new battery! Labor cost was minimal. Local mechanic that does all my repairs said that the dealer was probably charging parts bin storage for the door handle since they were last made back in 2011.

I got my Avalanche's outer door handle from eBay for $15. Obviously not a GM part but it's been fine.

The plastic flipper handle on our Splendide washer cost $70 with shipping for a $2 piece of plastic.

High cost for certain parts on vehicles is not uncommon. I recently had a door handle replaced on one of our toads too. It was the driver s side door handle on our '11 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Extended Cab. It was about a year ago when this was done but, for our truck, and its door handle, there certainly was no "storage" charge because, that handle had to be ordered and came in a day or two later.
