CAT scales, at your local truck stop, typically have 3 separate zones (steer, drive and trailer).

To get tongue weight, it takes 2 passes; one with the trailer (distribution bars must be disconnected) and another with just the truck (no trailer). Tongue weight is the difference between "the truck" values (steer + drive) - (steer + drive).

I recommend skipping past any instructions that have you disconnect ON the scale unless you own the scale!

I utilized the "home method" as shown in the boatus link. Helped rearrange my gear in the front storage bay, and keep my present hitch.

Went to the CAT scales. My hitch weight is 3500#.

Get a Sherline tongue weight scale or google "tongue weight bathroom scale" method

Well.. if you have a small kitchen scale, or a postal scale, just put your salad tongs on the scale and see what they weigh. 🙂
