Man I feel sorry for all of yโ€™all in that area. Hurricanes are bad enough but they blow through in a few hours.
I pray yโ€™all can stay safe and your property is spared.

No. 1 Son runs a hotshot crew, based up here in AK, but currently deployed to Colorado. They are anticipating only statutorily-mandated breaks for the next 45 days (one of which ends Monday, 14-Sep) and anticipate an assignment to Oregon. It's pretty ugly in the West.

Don't know of any fires started by a BBQ, but I do know that we have had lots in our area that have been started from camp fires and some may be from an arsonist? These are under investigation.

Several are from a wind storm that toppled power poles, burning homes and businesses. Loss of live from these fires also.

Where I live we have a fire that started (under investigation) Sep 7th at 10:30pm is now around 5000 acres and 6 miles from town. Have only had very limited resources due to the Oregon fires burning homes but today we are finally getting some help.

Ktmrfs, looking at my weather app, wind shift should be coming Thursday evening here in the Columbia Gorge. I hope that brings relief in the city, but also blow the fires back on to burnt fuel to help firefighters to get a handle on things.
We have lost part of Collier Memorial SP, while word has it that the Logging Museum was saved, one campground burned. It is unknown the condition of Detroit Lake, seeing the loss of entire towns on Hwy 22 it may also be damaged.
Stay safe!

Glad to here they saved the logging Museum. We've spent hours there looking through all the equipment on display. Campgrounds can be rebuilt.

We have had some spectacular sunsets and moon rises here on Vancouver Island, and along coastal BC as a result of smoke from the fires in Washington/Oregon.

Kudos to the fire fighters and support people who deal with them.

Be safe!

Sunday afternoon They closed the local park where me and friends were, forcing hundreds of people to leave (very good idea) because the wildlife area adjacent to the park was on fire
They got it under control fast, over 100 firefighters, confined it to about 20 acres
Golf courses and heavy residential areas very close by, fire station 3 miles up the road,
There is a scorched spot in the park (not the section we had been in), but no facilities damage has been reported
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

My sister lives in (lived) in Talent Or. Her house just burned to the ground today... She is fine and safe, but lost everything in the house..

I live in Puyallup WA and just had a small brush fire about 1/4 mile from me and thankfully, it was put out before it got out of control...

But, all around me in Sumner, Graham, Bonney Lake and the like are all on fire right now...

Lots of wind here still too... Gonna suck for sure..

I'm ready to leave if I have to, but hope it does not come to that..

Good luck! Mitch

Makes sense. We got run out of the Sun Lakes area (by Coulee City) early Mon morning. Wind storm was pretty stout and then it blew up the Pearl Hill fire that started Sun night on the Res. Filled our campers and boat full of ash.....bad mess!
From zero to 175,000 acres in a day!
Heck, had a little campfire going there Sun night. (all rocks and water, nothing to burn nearby, so safe) First big gust came up around 10pm, blew the whole campfire and a lawn chair into the lake!

not just state parks. Many County parks also have the same restrictions, Also many or maybe ALL the federal land has the same restrictions put in place yesterday or today. Several have also banned ALL entry to the federal forest land. Also no smoking allowed except in vehicles with an ashtray.

It's ugly. strong east winds (60+mph) downed power lines all over along with spreading existing fires. PGE cut power up around mt. hood to eliminate potential fires in that area, but it wasn't possible to cut power everywhere in fire prone areas. We were at the coast yesterday at Kilchis river park. Downed trees along the road. We and one other camper and the host had the park to ourselves. Power was out, would have been a perfect night for digging out the telescope if it wasn't for the thick smoke layer.

This morning sherriff came through about 9am, a nearby fire had jumped the fire line and was roaring towards the only exit road. 30 minutes to get loaded up and out. There are probably 100+ homes along the road that are in danger.

The winds were initally expected only monday afternoon till tues noon. Now they are expected to continue through friday. It's NOT looking good at all. Several smaller cities along highway 22 between salem and Bend have been virtually wiped of the map.

We were lucky, only a few of us in the campground. Silver falls campground near Salem was full, 100+ sites and they came in at 5am today telling everyone to pack up and leave immediately.

It's 6:30 west of portland and almost dark from all the smoke. Streetlights came on about an hour ago.

With all the dry brittle timber, grass and brush, it seems like a good idea. Watch out for cigarette smokers too,
